Civic Theater
Overview
The unique combination of old and new at the Civic Theatre is unmatched in the city of New Orleans. Built in 1906 as one of the first Shubert theaters outside of New York City, the Civic was at the heart of New Orleans’ theatre district.
Today, the Civic is the oldest living theater in New Orleans and special care has been taken to preserve the historic details of this building’s architectural footprint. Located in downtown New Orleans, this newly renovated venue can accommodate groups up to 1,100 for special events and parties.
Highlights include:
- Beautiful historic details throughout the theatre
- Portable panels that create customized layouts
- Mobile floors that create seating for 674 or standing room for approximately 1,100
- Sophisticated lighting and A/V systems
- Bars on each floor, serving cocktails created by famed mixologist Neal Bodenheimer
What You Can Expect
The intersection of historic architecture and innovative technology makes the iconic Civic theatre a truly remarkable event space. Functioning as a blank canvas, the Civic’s portable panels can easily create customized floor plans, while mobile flooring can transform the theatre into a seated arena for 674 guests, or a standing room for more than 1,100. Completely refurbished in 2013, the Civic has also been outfitted with state-of-the-art video and A/V systems.
For libations, the Civic has teamed up with renowned mixologist Neal Bodenheimer to create a signature cocktail menu. As guests mingle throughout this three-level event center, they’ll sip on drinks from American-made small batch spirits made with organic ingredients and craft cocktail techniques.
